Shanty Town, July 26 2008, The Roadhouse

Bashphelt are tonight's opening act. This band, from Barnoldswick, put in a very good performance, the boys can play and the charismatic singer can sing - so rare these days. Plus, the drummer and the bassist are very, very funky and creative - although sometimes the beats were a little too innovative for my taste. But then again, way better than those cliché rock drums. Subtle but nice vocal harmonies and good songs. They made a nice show, but it was too early, shame not everybody saw it.

Following on from Bashphelt Fake Kings are a bit of a disappointment. The kids can make noise, but they're insecure and can't play very well. I couldn't quite hear the vocals, and the guy was shouting like there was no tomorrow. They had some good tunes thought, all they need is to rehearse more and keep on doing live gigs.

Seaside Riot are posers with a fanbase, but you know what? They're actually quite good, very energetic. However, after the third or fourth song, you notice they all sound pretty much the same. The vocalist is a character and he invited his MOTHER to the stage. But I'm not reviewing his mother...
Great band, great audience. Apparently everybody was there to see Shanty Town. They've got nice songs, very catchy choruses. Again, after a while they start to sound the same. But still, it was a great performance.
